Hey, I’m Sam!

I’ve tackled everything from 5Ks to tough mountain trails, and now I’m here to help you do the same—without the stress or guesswork. I hold a degree in Kinesiology, have 7 years of experience as a personal trainer, and have been helping friends and family train for over a decade.

After growing up in Colorado, my husband TJ and I moved to State College, PA in 2017 and haven’t looked back! We adopted our sweet dog, Billie, in 2020, and in June 2024, we welcomed our son, Avery. Life’s been beautifully full ever since.

I started Sunny Strides Coaching shortly after Avery was born, wanting to stay close during his early years while also continuing my passion for helping others through fitness. With my background in personal training, expertise in training theory, and deep love of running, coaching felt like the perfect next chapter.

Whether you’re training for your very first race or chasing a new personal best, I’ll create a plan that fits your life, keeps things fun, and helps you feel strong, confident, and supported every step of the way.

About Sam

Mission

To help runners of all levels train like athletes, feel empowered in their goals, and enjoy the process. I create personalized, adaptable plans rooted in a holistic approach to fitness, nutrition, and life—because everyone deserves to feel like an athlete.

Vision

My vision is to build a supportive coaching community where every runner feels confident, capable, and inspired to reach their goals while enjoying the journey.

Why I Coach

Helping people reach their goals brings me so much joy! I coach to make sure everyone feels like an athlete, no matter their pace, background, or starting point. Whether it’s training for a big race or reaching a deeply personal milestone, I believe every goal—big or small—is worth chasing. Your goal matters, and I’m here to help you own it.

Family Time

My husband, TJ, and I share a love for the outdoors, traveling, and Kansas State Football. Our baby boy, Avery, is already happiest outside—especially in the jogging stroller or riding along on the bike. And of course, our sweet dog Billie is never far behind. Whether we’re out on the trails or enjoying a cozy night in, my favorite moments are always spent with my little crew.

My Running Community

Some of my favorite running memories come from teaming up with friends for the Tussey Mountainback—a multi-leg relay race that winds through miles of beautiful forest roads. Every year, that experience reminds me why I love this sport so much: it’s not just about the miles—it’s about the positive energy, friendship, and the moments that turn into lifelong memories.

Outside of running

When I’m not running, you can usually find me chasing adventure or a good latte. I love mountain biking, waterskiing in the summer, and being on the mountain for snow skiing in the winter. I’m also into slow mornings with my family, quality time with friends, and winding down with a good episode (or three) of Survivor. Whether I’m outdoors or relaxing with my people, I’m always trying to stay present and grateful for each moment.
